Hello Deviants! Thank you for checking out my work!
My name is David Grice and I'm a freelance fine artist from a small town in western New York. I always welcome commissions and I am flexible with color, content and size. I also have prints available so if there is anything that you want -feel free to contact me here. I am a founder of a non profit art organization that helps artists from my community get there work some exposure and also organizes art events locally and regional. We are always looking for new dedicated members to help us with our cause. Active Artists Alliance-the site- activeartists.org/
Ok, so to talk a little about myself as an artist. For me this is the hardest part about being an artist. I am like most creative people. I am obsessive/compulsive and anti social. I over work everything in order to achieve personal perfection and I lock myself in the studio for days on end so that I can get my art to the level of satisfaction that I put on myself. It takes a lot of dedication to your craft to get it to the level you hold for yourself.
As a creative person I put a ton of pressure on myself to work and it's necessary because I am not only trying to work towards a dream of becoming a successful artist but I also have to put food on the table and a roof over my head. Each person is different when it comes to what challenges they face in order to actually follow there dreams but the reality is we have to face challenges if we want to reach our dreams. For me I've struggled working non artistic jobs and got home at the end of a 10 hour shift to paint and work on art for another 10 hours. It's taxing on your body and mind but I know that if you want it that bad you have to work very hard to get it. I could go on and on about struggling and commitment to your craft but I'll give it rest for now!
Thanks for reading and I hope to write more in the near future. I am trying these days to dedicate my time equally to creating and marketing/communication. I worked for years on just focusing on doing the studio work and none on talking about what it is I am creating. It seems strange to some but we're all different when it comes to what we nurture and what we leave alone. It could be fear that kept me away from writing about what I do and what my art means but I like my paintings I am always a work in progress.
Working everyday. Enjoying the flow. Never stop creating. It's what we do. It's who we are.
